Hello and welcome back to Lost in Hyd — your weekly newsletter where I do the scrolling, searching, and plan-making so you don’t have to.
Every week, I try to find a mix of experiences that don’t feel repetitive. Hyderabad has no shortage of cafés and malls, but now and then, the city throws in a few interesting events that make you want to leave the house.
This week feels exactly like that.
Whether you’re in the mood to laugh at questionable jokes, attend a wedding without an actual wedding, spend a day on an organic farm, or treat yourself to an unforgettable meal, there’s something worth adding to your calendar.
If You Like Dark Humor, This One’s For You
Dark Jokes – A Dark Jokes Comedy Show is happening at The Comedy Theatre, Hyderabad. The comedians promise a night of twisted humor where absolutely nothing is off-limits, so consider this your warning before buying a ticket.
Personally, I think comedy is one of Hyderabad’s most underrated weekend plans. It’s affordable, different from the usual dinner-and-drinks routine, and you walk out feeling lighter than when you walked in.
Maybe don’t bring that one friend who gets offended by everything.
Attend a Wedding. But Without A Real Wedding.
This might be one of the most bizarre events I’ve come across recently.
Not Your Wedding: Shaadi Vibes, Zero Commitments is happening at Kingdome Klub and Kitchen, Hyderabad. Think dhol, baraat energy, wedding décor, Bollywood music, ethnic outfits, and all the chaos of an Indian wedding—minus the bride, groom, and lifelong commitment.
Honestly, this sounds like the perfect event for people who love weddings but don’t particularly enjoy being related to the people getting married.
Wear your best ethnic outfit, gather your friends, and enjoy the wedding experience without having to contribute to a gift fund.
Spend a Day at an Organic Farm
If your idea of a good weekend involves fewer screens and more fresh air, the Akshayakalpa Organic Farm Visit might be exactly what you need.
Located at Akshayakalpa Organic Farming, Nandigama, near Hyderabad, this experience includes farm activities, bullock-cart rides, traditional village games, organic food experiences, and a chance to understand where your food actually comes from.
I genuinely love recommending experiences like this because they feel completely different from a typical city weekend.
You leave with muddy shoes, a lot of photos, and a surprising appreciation for farmers.
And honestly, most of us could use a little more nature and a little less screen time.
Watch New Comedians Before They Become Famous
One of my favorite things about Hyderabad’s comedy scene is how accessible it is.
The Stand-Up Comedy Mic gives audiences a chance to watch comedians test fresh material, experiment with new jokes, and sometimes accidentally create comedy gold.
There’s something incredibly fun about watching a joke being born in real time. Not every joke lands, but that’s part of the charm.
If you’ve never attended an open mic before, this is a great way to experience Hyderabad’s growing stand-up scene without committing to a huge show.
Food Experience of the Week
A 7-Course Hibachi Dinner Worth Splurging On
Most weeks, I recommend a café. This week, I’m recommending an experience.
If you’re looking for a special dinner plan, the Exclusive 7-Course Hibachi Set Menu at Noho - Progressive Asian House is the kind of meal that turns dinner into an event. Expect live cooking, Japanese-inspired flavors, beautifully plated courses, and a dining experience that makes you slow down and actually enjoy the food rather than scrolling through your phone between bites.
It’s definitely more of a treat-yourself plan than a casual dinner outing, but sometimes that’s exactly what the week calls for.
Perfect for:
date nights
celebrations
foodie friends
convincing yourself you’re a food critic for an evening
Final Thoughts
What I like about this week’s lineup is how different everything feels.
You can spend Friday laughing at dark comedy, attend a fake wedding on Saturday, escape to an organic farm on Sunday morning, and finish the weekend with an incredible meal.
Not bad for a city that people still claim has “nothing to do.”
As always, if you end up trying any of these, I’d love to know which one made it to your weekend plans.
See you around the city.
